Brandon Hall Group’s CEO Mike Cooke Briefing for Learning, HR and Business Leaders: Staying Ahead in the Ever-Evolving World of HCM (Week of June 2, 2025)

🌟 Brandon Hall Group’s Institute: Empowering Excellence in HCM

This week’s observations and insights reflect the core mission of Brandon Hall Group’s Institute: guiding organizations toward excellence in Human Capital Management. As the industry’s premier source for research-backed expertise, our Institute continues to be the go-to resource for actionable strategies, training, leadership development, and innovative solutions. Through our research and thought leadership, we are helping businesses navigate the complexities of AI, skill-based hiring, and vendor partnerships, ensuring they remain adaptive and ahead of the curve. Whether it’s through our industry-leading certification programs, advisory services, or comprehensive resources, the Institute is uniquely positioned to empower organizations in the pursuit of HCM brilliance.

Our Brandon Hall Group team was laser-focused this week, uncovering critical shifts and exciting opportunities across the Human Capital Management landscape. Here are some key takeaways:

💡 AI is Not Just Coming, It’s Here & Reshaping HR:

The integration of Artificial Intelligence in HR is accelerating rapidly. We saw major announcements from Cornerstone OnDemand at Spark 2025, including their new Galaxy AI for content curation and compliance, an AI-powered workforce solution integration with Microsoft Copilot, and the Immerse Companion expanding its reach. This aligns with observations of IBM handling a significant percentage of HR tasks with AI, highlighting the urgent need for HR professionals to adapt and evolve their skillsets. We’re also tracking innovative agentic AI capabilities, like those emerging from Perplexity Pro and SAP.

🔑 Skills-Based Talent Strategies are Paramount:

The shift to a skills-based approach to talent is undeniable. Cornerstone’s upcoming Skill Exchange aims to be a central player in skills data management, complemented by their Workforce Intelligence launch featuring SkyHive labor market data. This echoes the industry-wide conversation and we continue to lead critical discussions in this area.

🚀 Vendor Innovation & Strategic Alliances Driving Change:

The HCM technology market is buzzing with innovation. Cornerstone’s strategic partnerships with Microsoft and Salesforce signal a move beyond traditional learning into broader enterprise productivity. They also unveiled a new Galaxy Mobile App with offline access, focusing on the critical deskless workforce. Beyond the headlines, we’re seeing interesting developments like Coassemble’s strategic pivot to knowledge management in the flow of work, a move ripe with potential.

📈 Deep Engagement & Forward-Looking Insights:

I’m pleased with our continual engagement with industry leaders and solution providers. Some discussions in the past week were with executives at Coca-Cola, Area9 Lyceum, Quantum Workplace, Coassemble, Grant Thornton, and many others.  As one of the few analyst firms with clients on both the buy and sell side, these interactions ensure our research, advisory, and awards programs, (we’re already eyeing strong tech award candidates like Visier and OneModel), remain at the forefront of HCM excellence. We’re also identifying opportunities to support our clients through several executive transitions.

Today, the pace of change in HCM is relentless, and we are committed to providing the insights to our clients.
